TALBOT BI 105 SPEED SPORTS SALOON
Chassis no. 4043, engine no. BI44, reg. BOV 730
This car was one of a batch of 97 Talbot BI 105s built in 1936/37 before production ceased. Of those, 55 were Speed Sports Saloons and it is thought that this car is one of the only 3 survivors. The engine is 3-litre straight six and the car has a pre-selector traffic clutch and separate starter motor. BOV 730 was first delivered to agents Henry Garner Ltd and registered in Birmingham. Little is known of its early history up until 1958 when it was owned by a Mr Excell in Dorking, then Frank Tidball in Wroughton, Wiltshire. In 1966 it was bought by a Mr Levin in Missouri, USA, and subsequently the Dettlebach family, also in Missouri. Dr Follows in Vancouver, Canada, was the next owner from 2001 to 2007, when Malcolm Fishwick repatriated the car. He owned it until he sold it to James Fack in 2011. David Roxburgh acquired the car in 2024. Restored some years ago and now in an attractively ‘weathered’ condition, the 105 retains all its original components and is a fine and comfortable tourer.
