Year Last known 1956 2020 email correspondence
Thank you very much for your quick reply. I have also done a bit more digging and can tell you the last owner was my cousin, Stuart Hunt, still here at 93. According to the tax discs, he bought the car in 1952 and scrapped it in 1957. The last tax disc attached is for march 1957. It was in British Racing Green. He scrapped it because he could not afford the major repair to the engine. He had previously re-built the gearbox having had to make a tool for compressing the extremely strong spring in the box. Stuart Hunt raced with John Surtees in the 1950's. (motorbikes, not cars) My last memories were riding in it from Manchester back from the stock cars, it would do 80mph easily and thought it brilliant passing more modern cars - it was a real head turner, although I was only 12 in 1957, I was very sad to see such a beautiful car cut up for scrap. Aluminium bodywork and a chassis like a tank.
Good to get the year - 1935 - I thought it was earlier and I believe 1935 was the last year of manufacture.
Thank you for your time and if you want scans of the other tax discs, let me know. I will pass on this information to Stuart. It just happens to be a coincidence that my name is also Stuart - no blood relative, he married my cousin.
Thank you and best wishes, Stuart.
