Vehicle Information/Notes

Drop Head Coupe by the Carlton Carriage Company. Originally the car was registered in March 1934 as an AX65, but converted in the early 90's to a BA75 specification.

YG 7322

The car spent its early years in Yorkshire and was purchased by Mr Eric Marsden in around 1943 when the mileage was about 20,000. Mr Marsden subsequently moved to the Isle of Wight where the car remained until approximately 1988 when it was sold to Ian Polson. David Thomson acquired the car in February 1994 as a part -restored project. The car had been on the Isle of Wight on blocks in a garage for nearly 40 years. The entire power train, engine, pre-selector, torque tube and steering box had been transplanted by Ian Polson from a BA75 Sports Saloon. According to history file notes made by David Thompson, the car would cruise at 70mph at 3500rpm with a compression ratio of 8:1 and a final drive of 4.6. John Foy restored the ash frame. Virtually all the panels were recycled. The body was re-sprayed in Connaught Green. Most of the leather is original. David Thompson sold the car in 1999 with just over 40,000 on the odometer and it changed hands a couple of times. I purchased the car in October 2014 with just under 50,000 on the odometer. Over the winter of 2014/15 the mechanicals were totally renewed by Ian Polson to include a full engine rebuild. Over the winter of 2015/16 the gearbox was overhauled by Tom Dark Engineering.
