The car was purchased from the stand at Olympia in 1934 and was the advanced model for 1935 by a friend of Mr V.I.P.Lalonde of Lalonde& Lalonde insurance brokers of Bristol. His friend used the car at weekends as he lived in London. He too was proud and fond of her. When the war broke out in 1939 Clementine was laid up in Epsom. Lalonde’s friend was killed during the war. After the war, in 1945, the car was purchased by Mr Lalonde for £700 from his widow. He never used her hard or very often but took her for long runs with the family. He sold her in 1954 when she had done some 25000 miles. She had been rewired in 1953 and new bumpers fitted and resprayed . The car was sold to a Mr (?? )who possibly changed the engine no 1317 to 1348 sometime before being sold in 1954 to a Mr Bryan Richmond. In 1958 the car was sold to a Mr E.C.Davis residing in Winterbourne but moved to the Clifton area of Bristol I purchased the car in 1968, the car I bought was BXV 342, battle ship gray, which had run a big end , it was immediately repaired .I used the car for work about 3-4 years. Then decided it needed sympathetically tidying up which took a few years to do but still drove to S.T.D. meetings in between. I am still using the car to this day 2013 but not on so regular a situation.
I have the letter from Mr Lalonde to Mr Davis dated 10 10 56 stating the history up to the time he sold the car. I had Mr Bryan Richmond come and visit me in 02/03/2013 to see BXV342 so I gave him a ride and he was so delighted that the car was still being used.
