Vehicle Information/Notes
Another of many NZ Talbots saved by Mike Poynton in the 1950's and 60's. Stored away under his house in the Wellington suburb of Johnsonville it suffered from the property being flooded from time to time, the flood waters destroying the diffs and gearboxes in some of his cars.Alasdair Thompson bought this car from Mike in the 1970's.We towed it north to Aucklands North Shore behind my 1935 Chev grocers delivery van.He had Peter Philpott rebuild the preselect gearbox from a collection of partsthat I had with the BA saloon. It then passed hands to Mike Rose who sadly stripped the excellent platted items from it to enhance a pile of rusty 105 parts he was trying to sell. He replaced the good with the bad, rusty items painted black! The car then went to Jim Riley and after Jim passed on, Steve Gaut bought it and shipped it across the ditch to Australia. AJ Robinson.
