6 cylinder 2276cc engine, 4/5 seat Drop head coupe on 9’ 6” wheelbase, Top speed 90 mph Model History AM 90 Offord DHC, Manual gearbox GN3089 1st registered Jan 21st 1931 and sold to Union Steel & Manufacturing Co and registered to Ronald Hampton in Tettenhall, Staffs. It was returned to works in July 34 before being sold to SF Hillier, presumably a dealer, who sold it onto Arthur Fallon of West Wickham. The car was acquired in 1953 by the Smith family who owned the car until 1978 and subsequently repurchased by their son. Although classified as an Offord, the coach work was undertaken by Carlton. There is one other Offord car of similar shape in existence. The car was acquired by Mike O’Brien in 2007 as an ebay purchase and following his death in 2009, I acquired the other 3 wheels from my siblings! Under my ownership, the car has undergone a full restoration (2010) – engine work by Arthur Archer, body work by Framecraft (Ken Sparkes), radiator & petrol tank by Anglian Radiators and bare metal respray by Bob Ransley. She is a delight to drive, and used regularly – often with suits of sails protruding from the open top! TO’B
