The new model incorporated many features developed following a highly successful 1930 season of racing, which included Talbot 90’s winning the Index of Performance at Le Mans and class wins at the Irish Grand Prix, Tourist Trophy and Brooklands 500 races. VE 4558 Originally ordered at the 1930 Motor Show, this car was the 10th AM90 made and the first to be fitted with the De Luxe Sports Tourer body. The car was later purchased by Derek and Joan Day, the current owner’s parents, in April 1955 for £95. It remained the family car in everyday use until September 1958 when it was taken off the road for a quick repair to the back axle. The ‘quick’ repair was unfortunately never completed at the time. However, 52 years later in June 2010, a full restoration of the car was finally completed just in time to attend that year’s Le Mans Classic, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Talbot 90 winning the Index of Performance.
